Rainy Season

Who doesn’t like rain? It is a very romantic season that feels very nostalgic and cozy. We all enjoy long drives, corns, Pakoras, and aromatic tea during monsoon. Rain comes with its own problems like mud, humid weather, common health problems, and whatnot. We all face frizzy hair issues during monsoons and it irritates every single one. Let’s find out How To Control Frizzy Hair During Rainy Season.

1. Avoid using hot water

Using hot water for shampooing and conditioning during the rainy season can lead to frizzy hair. Hot water strips away natural oils from the hair, making it dry and prone to frizz. In the rainy season, the air is already humid, and when the hair gets wet, it absorbs moisture from the environment.

When dry, frizz occurs as the hair absorbs excess moisture from the air, causing the cuticles to swell and create a rough, frizzy appearance. To prevent this, it’s better to use lukewarm or cool water while washing your hair to retain natural oils and keep the hair smooth and manageable during the rainy season.

2. Don’t open your hair

Opening up your hair during the rainy season can lead to frizzy hair. When the air is humid, the moisture in the air can be absorbed by your hair. Causing it to swell and become frizzy. The cuticles of the hair, which are like tiny scales that cover each strand, lift up in humid conditions. It allows moisture to enter and disrupt the smoothness of the hair.

By leaving your hair open, you expose it directly to the moisture in the air, making it more susceptible to frizz. To minimize frizz, it’s advisable to tie your hair up in a braid, or bun. In addition, use protective hairstyles that help to shield your hair from the humidity.

3. Apply Hair Serum

Applying hair serum can help control frizz during the rainy season. Hair serums contain ingredients that can coat the hair shaft. It creates a protective barrier against moisture in the air. This barrier helps to seal the cuticles and prevent them from absorbing excess moisture, which leads to frizz. Hair serums also provide nourishment and hydration to the hair, keeping it smooth and manageable.

Applying a small amount of hair serum to damp or dry hair before styling. You can reduce frizz, add shine, and keep your hair looking sleek even in humid weather. It’s important to choose a serum suitable for your hair type. Also, avoid applying too much to prevent a greasy appearance.

4. No Thermal Styling

Thermal styling, such as using flat irons or curling irons, can make your hair frizzy during the rainy season. When you expose your hair to high heat, it can cause moisture within the hair shaft to evaporate, leaving the hair dry and vulnerable to frizz. In the humid rainy season, the moisture in the air can be absorbed by the hair, causing it to swell and become even frizzier.

The combination of heat and humidity can disrupt the hair’s natural moisture balance and lead to frizz. It’s best to avoid excessive thermal styling during this time or use heat-protectant products to minimize damage and maintain the smoothness of your hair.

5. Use mild shampoo and conditioner

Using mild shampoo and conditioner during the rainy season is beneficial for your hair. Rainwater can contain pollutants and impurities that may stick to your hair and scalp. Mild shampoos effectively cleanse the hair without stripping away its natural oils, which are essential for maintaining healthy and moisturized hair. Harsh shampoos can further dry out the hair and scalp, leading to frizz and dryness.

Additionally, mild conditioners provide nourishment and hydration to the hair, helping to combat the effects of humidity and prevent frizz. By opting for mild hair care products, you can keep your hair clean, balanced, and more resistant to frizz during the rainy season.

6. Choose Hot oiling

Hot oiling can help control frizz during the rainy season. The humidity in the air can cause the hair to absorb excess moisture, leading to frizz. Hot oil treatments help to create a protective barrier for the hair, sealing in moisture and preventing the absorption of humidity. The heat from the oil treatment opens up the hair cuticles, allowing the oil to penetrate deeply and provide nourishment.

This helps to restore moisture, add shine, and reduce frizz. Hot oiling also improves the overall health of the hair, making it more manageable and resistant to frizz. Regular hot oil treatments can be a beneficial addition to your hair care routine during the rainy season.

7. Use Satin Pillows

Using satin pillows can help control frizz during the rainy season. Cotton or other rough fabric pillows can create friction with your hair, causing it to tangle and become more prone to frizz. Satin pillows, on the other hand, have a smoother surface that allows your hair to glide smoothly as you move during sleep.

This reduces friction and prevents hair breakage and frizz. Satin also helps to retain moisture in the hair, unlike cotton which can absorb moisture and contribute to dryness. By switching to satin pillows, you can wake up with smoother, less frizzy hair and maintain its moisture balance during the rainy season.

8. Use a Microfiber Towel

Using a microfiber towel can help control frizz during the rainy season. Regular towels, especially those made of rough materials like terry cloth, can cause friction and rough up the hair cuticles, leading to frizz. Microfiber towels have a smoother texture and are more gentle on the hair.

They absorb excess moisture without causing excessive friction, reducing the chances of frizz. Microfiber towels also help to minimize drying time, which means less exposure to the humid environment. By using a microfiber towel to gently blot or wrap your hair after washing, you can promote smoother, less frizzy hair during the rainy season.
